The brace is typically worn for most of the day and removed only for activities like sports or bathing. In severe cases, where the curvature is significant or continues to progress despite bracing, surgical intervention may be necessary. Surgery often involves spinal fusion, where two or more vertebrae are permanently joined to correct the curvature and stabilize the spine. Physical therapy is often recommended to strengthen the muscles supporting the spine and improve flexibility. Early detection and intervention are crucial to managing scoliosis effectively and preventing complications such as pain, reduced mobility, or respiratory issues. Regular follow-up with a healthcare provider is important to monitor the condition and adjust treatment as needed.
